Coral Springs Plans to Construct Eight Additional Pickleball Courts in Response to the Increasing Popularity of the Sport

Coral Springs, a city in Florida, is building eight new pickleball courts to keep up with the growing popularity of pickleball, which has been described as a combination of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. The new courts will be located at Riverside Park and will bring the total number of public pickleball courts in Coral Springs to 26.

According to Lindsey Steinberg, the city spokesperson, the cost of building the new courts are yet to be determined as they are still in the process of collecting quotes from contractors. However, the construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Pickleball, which has been dubbed as America's fastest-growing sport, has attracted more than 36 million players from August 2021 to August 2022, according to the Association of Pickleball Professionals. The popularity of the game has led to the conversion of tennis courts into pickleball courts across the country.

The Sports & Fitness Industry Association estimates that there are more than 4.8 million regular pickleball players in the United States. In response to this trend, Coral Springs has built public pickleball courts in various locations, including Cypress Park, Tennis Center of Coral Springs, Coral Springs Middle School, and Riverside Park.

Riverside Park will now have ten courts, including a "stadium" court. The addition of the new courts will cater to the increasing demand for pickleball, providing more opportunities for people to play and engage in physical activity.
