Former Michigan State Athlete Catherine Parenteau Rises to the Top of the Pickleball World

Pickleball has provided a second chance for former Michigan State student athlete Catherine Parenteau. After transferring from the University of Arkansas and running out of eligibility, Parenteau found herself missing the thrill of competition. Her former coach introduced her to pickleball, and within six months, Parenteau was competing in the U.S. Open, the biggest tournament of the year. Since then, she has won numerous titles, including 21 on the Professional Pickleball Association Tour, and is now ranked second in the world in women's pickleball.

Parenteau attributes her success in pickleball to her tennis background, as the skills and strategies used in both sports are similar. She has also found joy in teaching others about the sport that changed her life, running clinics after her events on the PPA Tour. Despite her success, Parenteau remains humble and passionate about her sport, saying that she doesn't even feel like she's working because she loves it so much.

In addition to competing on the PPA Tour, Parenteau is also involved in Major League Pickleball, a league featuring 12 teams of men and women competing in six events throughout the season.
