National Governing Bodies Announced the creation of the Pickleball Federation of the Americas (PFA)

The national governing bodies of pickleball in the US, Canada and Mexico have announced the creation of the Pickleball Federation of the Americas (PFA). The PFA will serve as the first continental pickleball federation in the Americas with the aim of promoting the development and growth of the sport throughout North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. Other national federations in the Americas are encouraged to join the PFA as members to support the international development of pickleball.

The formation of a continental pickleball federation is a much-needed development, particularly given the recent explosion of the sport in the region. The PFA is a non-profit corporation that will encourage the development of the sport, coordinate efforts to position pickleball as a welcoming and accessible sport, organize continental championships, and support equity, diversity, and inclusion within the sport.

The PFA's goal is to help ensure that the culture of pickleball evolves as a safe sport, one in which players, coaches, officials, and volunteers experience a welcoming and respectful environment for all with a commitment to fair play and equal treatment. The federation will encourage and support measures related to the medical care and health of athletes participating in PFA competitions, safeguarding the integrity of pickleball and para pickleball through anti-doping efforts and the prevention of the manipulation of competitions.

The PFA will offer resources to its member countries such as official playing rules, coaching and officiating materials, and guidelines for federation websites, bylaws, articles of incorporation, and tournament operations.
