NOTL Pickleball Club to Host International Tournament with Players Ranging from 17 to 77

The NOTL Pickleball Club is set to host the NOTL International Pickleball event this June, with 280 players from across the globe expected to attend. The event will bring major benefits to the town, with a wide geographical spread of players from as far away as Alaska, California, Florida, and New York state, as well as the Niagara Region and the NOTL club members. The tournament will also offer a wide age-spread, with participants ranging from 17 to 77.

The tournament will feature around 180 teams competing across the men's, ladies', and mixed doubles events, with players split across three age brackets and three skill level categories. The club is partnering with Cogeco YourTV to televise the professional exhibition matches on June 9 and tournament games on June 10 and 11, giving local and international viewers the chance to see the game played at its highest level.

Several local corporate sponsors have signed on to support the tournament, including Quinn Wealth Management, Eye Wellness, and One Earth, among others. The event will launch with a series of prize money professional matches on Friday, June 9 at 7.00 pm in the Meridian Arena in Virgil, giving attendees the chance to experience the game played by eight of Ontario’s top professionals. Tickets for the Friday evening are $10 and wine, beer and refreshments will all be available.

The tournament itself runs over the weekend of June 10 and 11, with matches scheduled at both the Meridian and Centennial Arenas in Virgil. Admission to the tournament games on both days is free, a decision made by the Operating Committee to spread the word about the sport. There will also be an official tournament dinner on Saturday June 10 at the NOTL Community Centre, with tickets priced at $55 per person.
